The meeting on the concept of improvement of the NSU campus was chaired by the Deputy Mayor of Novosibirsk, Head of the Department of Culture, Sports and Youth Policy Anna Tereshkova. The developer of the concept was Adaptik-A LLC. The improvement project includes the territory of both the existing NSU campus and the facilities of the new world-class campus, which is being built as part of national project “Science and Universities”.

Representatives of the Novosibirsk mayor’s office, architects, including landscape architects, and representatives of NSU took part in the discussion of the concept for improvement of the NSU campus. The interest of those gathered was aroused by the speeches of the director of Adaptik-A LLC Igor Karnaukhov, the chief architect of the company Pavel Nosarev and the chairman of the Novosibirsk branch of the Union of Architects of Russia Petr Dolnakov.

— NSU, together with the architects, defended the work, we approved the proposed improvement project. There were several questions about the strong anthropogenic load; the authors were asked to calculate it in more detail. After examining the green area, it was decided to preserve all healthy plants and highlight the area with various elements. I am sure that this space will become a good recreation area for students and residents of Akademgorodok,” said Deputy Mayor, Head of the Department of Culture, Sports and Youth Policy of the Novosibirsk City Hall Anna Tereshkova.

— The NSU campus, which will be expanded with new academic buildings and dormitories in the coming years, will become a modern space where all conditions will be created for students’ learning, leisure and creativity. It is important to note that the university is becoming a driver for the development of both Akademgorodok and the city of Novosibirsk as a whole. It is here that new educational standards are being introduced, modern infrastructure is being formed, new research areas are emerging, advanced technologies and solutions are being developed that are used in various industries. All this helps strengthen the status of our region as an innovation center of federal significance,” said Mikhail Fedoruk, rector of NSU.

According to the developers, the summer stage/cinema will become a point of attraction on the NSU campus. This is an event space designed for holding public events: educational lectures, theatrical performances, film screenings. Mobile stands made of wood and metal form the spectator area. This facility will become an integrative space for students, teachers, and local residents.

Seating, meeting and waiting areas will be distributed proportionately throughout the campus. Between the dormitories there are areas with benches, flooring and sun loungers, which will allow groups to gather and hold events with few people.

In the forested area there will be gazebos and canopies, which will allow open-air lectures and student club meetings. These areas can also be used for coworking, as they will have electricity.

The construction of the new NSU campus includes several stages. Construction of the first and second phases is currently underway. The first-stage facilities, which include the academic building of the NSU Scientific Research Center, the NSU leisure center and a complex of two dormitories, are at the finish line. They will accept their first students this fall. The construction of second-stage facilities also continues: the readiness of the classroom building is 40%, the educational and scientific center of the Institute of Medicine and Psychology of NSU is 15%, and the research center is 12%.
