Îles‑de‑la‑Madeleine (Quebec), May 2, 2024 – Canada Economic Development for Quebec Regions (DEC)
The Honorable Diane Lebouthillier, Member of Parliament for Gaspésie‒Les Îles‒de‑la‑Madeleine and Minister of Fisheries, Oceans and the Canadian Coast Guard, will announce financial support that the Government of Canada has granted to 20 businesses, organizations and communities of Gaspésie and the Magdalen Islands following the devastating passage of Hurricane Fiona.
In Gaspésie, four municipal administrations were supported by DEC: the city of Gaspé, the city of Percé, the city of Carleton-sur-Mer and the city of Chandler.
DEC also supported the projects of 16 organizations in the Magdalen Islands: the Municipality of the Magdalen Islands, the Chenal Nautical Club, the Fabrique de la parish of Saint-Pierre-de-La Vernière, the Cap‑Vert Bay Port Development Corporation, Moule du Large, Cultured Mussels of the Islands, the Cap‑aux‑Meules Nautical Club, Bijoux Belle et Nathan, the “Les Îles” Holiday Club – Auberge la Salicorne, the Corporation du Parc de Gros‑Cap, the Musée de la mer, Camping Le Barachois, la Fille de la mer, artisanal soap factory, Les Fruits de mer Madeleine, L’Anse aux herbes and the Motel l’Archipel.
The announcement of these financial contributions from DEC will be made on behalf of the Honorable Soraya Martinez Ferrada, Minister of Tourism and Minister responsible for DEC.
