Doing business the Canadian way means committing to responsible business practices that contribute to a strong, sustainable and competitive economy and help build a better future for all.

The Minister of Export Promotion, International Trade and Economic Development, the Honorable Mary Ng, today thanked Canada’s first Corporate Responsibility Ombudsman (CORE), Sheri Meyerhoffer, at the end of her mandate . Minister Ng thanks Ms. Meyerhoffer for her work over the past 5 years to establish the CORE office and create a solid foundation to strengthen the responsible conduct of Canadian businesses operating in the foreigner. Ms. Meyerhoffer offered essential advice to Canadian businesses to ensure they respect human rights when operating abroad.

This important work will continue under the leadership of Masud Husain, who has been appointed interim CORE. Mr. Husain worked in Canada’s Foreign Service for 30 years, holding several key positions. He has recognized expertise in international law and stakeholder engagement which will be valuable to him in his new role, which will begin later this year.
