An official inspection revealed too high a boron content in Beypazari brand mineral water. As a health risk cannot be excluded, the Federal Office for Food Safety and Veterinary Affairs (FSVO) recommends that the population not consume this product. BAK-SAN GmbH immediately withdrew the product from sale and ordered a recall.
How can this product be dangerous?
Possible from the leaching of rocks and soils, boron is naturally present in groundwater, and therefore in mineral water. It is assumed that boron harms fetal development and affects fertility. A long-term health risk cannot therefore be excluded.
