A man has been charged in connection with the stabbing of a police officer in Enfield.

James Moore, 30 (15.09.93) of Aldgate High Street, EC3 was charged with the following offences on Wednesday, 17 April:

– Assault – grievous bodily harm (wounding with intent)
– Possession of a bladed article (knife)
– Possession with intent to supply Class A drugs (crack cocaine)
– Possession with intent to supply Class A drugs (heroin)
– Possession of cannabis

Moore will appear in custody at Willesden Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, 18 April.

The charges follow an incident at 16:25hrs on Tuesday, 16 April, when an officer from Enfield was stabbed as he responded to reports of a man with a knife on Mandeville Road.

The injured officer was immediately supported by police colleagues who administered first aid. He was taken to hospital where he remains receiving treatment; his condition is stable.

Commander Owain Richards said: “The actions of this officer demonstrates the best of the Met, showing bravery in dealing with an extremely dangerous situation. It also reminds us of the challenges our officers face each day while doing their duty to protect the public.”
