According to Prime Minister Kaja Kallas, it is still necessary to keep the focus on supporting Ukraine. “The situation on the front is difficult, and ammunition and the necessary equipment are urgently needed,” stressed Kallas.

Kallas also noted that EU leaders will be discussing the situation in the Middle East and Iran’s drone and missile attack against Israel. “Estonia condemns Iran’s attacks against Israel. The priority is to avoid regional escalation,” Kallas said.
The prime minister added that in light of the attack that took place, we can clearly see that international cooperation can successfully counter drone and missile attacks. “This is all the more reason to give Ukraine what they critically need,” she added.
“In order to be able to provide military support to Ukraine in the long term and to increase our defence capabilities, we also need to strengthen the defence industry of the EU,” the prime minister said.
“When it comes to the internal market, Estonia prioritises preserving competition and reducing administrative burdens. We also need to be bolder in our support for innovation, in the application of cutting-edge technologies, and in building connections between Member States,” said Kallas.
In addition to the European Council, the prime minister will also attend the European Defence and Security Summit on Wednesday, where she will deliver a speech on the need to boost Europe’s defence capabilities.
