Three men and one woman have been arrested following a drug trafficking investigation in the Saint-Paul and Moncton regions of the province.

In February 2024, members of the RCMP Provincial Crime Reduction Unit (PCRU) began an investigation into the trafficking of illegal drugs in the Southeast region of New Brunswick.

On April 10, PCRU members along with assistance from RCMP Police Dog Services, executed search warrants at two locations on Bon Secours Road in Saint-Paul, and Enviro Drive in Moncton, in connection with the investigation. During the searches, police seized significant quantities of what is believed to be cocaine, crystal methamphetamine, fentanyl, methamphetamine pills, hydromorphone pills, and oxycodone pills. Police also seized nearly 30,000 contraband cigarettes, three firearms, drug trafficking paraphernalia, and money. Police also recovered a number of stolen items related to other files, including a side-by-side, two utility trailers, license plates, and e-bikes.

A 49-year-old woman, a 33-year-old man, a 41-year-old man, and a 62-year-old man were all arrested in connection with the investigation.

On April 11, Chantal Cote appeared in Moncton Provincial Court, and was charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking cocaine. She was remanded into custody, and is scheduled to return to court on April 17 at 1:30 p.m., for a bail hearing.

On April 11, Jesse James Wallace also appeared in Moncton Provincial Court and was charged with possession of a restricted weapon. He was remanded into custody, and is scheduled to return to court on April 16 at 9:30 a.m., for a bail hearing.

The 41-year-old man was turned over to the Halifax Regional Police due to having outstanding warrants in their jurisdiction, and the 62-year-old man was released from custody.

The Provincial Crime Reduction Unit includes police officers from the New Brunswick RCMP. Its efforts focus on disrupting and dismantling the trafficking of illegal drugs in our province, targeting those causing the most harm in our communities.
