Canada’s approach to pricing carbon pollution also means helping Canadians make their homes and businesses more energy efficient and reducing their energy bills. Whether in the form of quarterly rebates to individuals and families or investments in clean industrial projects, pricing on pollution supports Canada’s emissions reduction goals and promotes the growth of a clean, prosperous economy.

The Minister of Environment and Climate Change, the Honorable Steven Guilbeault, announced today that the Government of Canada will help New Brunswick make significant progress in implementing its Enhanced Energy Savings Program – a program that aims to help homeowners make energy-efficient improvements to their homes. This program supports the installation of heat pumps, improving insulation and airtightness and helping residents move away from expensive home heating oil, among other measures. These improvements will allow homeowners to better manage their energy consumption and reduce the costs of their monthly energy bills while reducing their greenhouse gas emissions and helping create a healthier and safer environment. .

By delivering on its commitment to return more than $20 million in pollution pricing proceeds to the Province of New Brunswick through the Future Electricity Fund, the Government of Canada is supporting projects clean energy, energy-efficient technologies and other initiatives that will help the country achieve its climate goals and achieve a carbon-neutral economy by 2050.

The Future Electricity Fund is in line with Canada’s plan to transition to a carbon-neutral electricity grid. Together, these initiatives will facilitate access to affordable electricity for New Brunswick households and increase renewable, non-emitting energy sources in New Brunswick. Through the Future Power Fund, Canada can create a strong, sustainable energy system that benefits the environment, the economy and families.
