TAMARAC, FL – Congresswoman Cherfilus-McCormick issued the following statement on the new HUD-VASH policy changes.
“The changes made by the Biden-Harris administration to the HUD-VASH program are much needed. I am glad to see their efforts to broaden access to essential benefits for the men and women who have served our country with honor. For too long, veterans in need have been unable to participate in the HUD-VASH program due to a nonsensical income threshold that regarded service-connected disability benefits as income. By revising the definition of income to include VA benefits and by increasing the income threshold to 80% of AMI, more veterans will now be eligible for rental assistance and additional supportive services than ever before. I commend these steps taken by the Biden-Harris administration. I will continue to work diligently to ensure that all veterans are informed about these changes and can access the benefits they have rightfully earned.”
