LUMBERTON, N.J. – Yesterday, Congressman Andy Kim (NJ-03) was awarded the Legislator of the Year Award from the New Jersey Veterans of Foreign Wars (NJVFW) in recognition of his service and commitment to local veterans and their families. The award was presented to Congressman Kim in Lumberton during his 78th town hall.
“For all they have given us, I am honored to work every day to be there for veterans across New Jersey and their loved ones,” said Congressman Kim. “After bravely serving our nation in uniform, so many veterans continue to look after their fellow servicemembers and our communities with organizations like the NJVFW. I am so grateful they have selected me for this recognition as we continue to work together to ensure our entire military community has the benefits and support they are owed.”
“On behalf of the New Jersey Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW), it is with great respect and appreciation to acknowledge Congressman Andy Kim as the New Jersey VFW Legislator of the Year. His unwavering commitment to supporting our veterans and their families exemplifies the values we hold dear. We extend our deepest gratitude for his dedication and exceptional service. His efforts have made a significant impact, and we are honored to recognize his contributions,” said in a joint statement from the Department of New Jersey VFW, signed: Commander Jeff Walding, Legislative Chair Bill Thomson, and Legislative Chair Luddie H. Austin.
Congressman Kim was previously awarded the NJVFW Legislator of the Year Award in 2022 and the State of New Jersey Civilian Meritorious Service Award in 2023 for his service on behalf of servicemembers, veterans, and military families.
Since his first day in office, Congressman Kim has fought for local veterans, including voting to pass the Honoring Our Pact Act into law to expand millions of veterans’ healthcare who were exposed to burn pits and other toxic substances. He also secured a state-of-the-art Community Based Outpatient Clinic (CBOC) in Toms River to help make sure veterans can easily access healthcare through the VA and helped double America’s investment in veteran suicide prevention outreach programs. Additionally, Congressman Kim introduced legislation to support veteran owned small businesses, honor the Buffalo Soldiers with the Congressional Gold Medal, and help state-run veteran cemeteries properly honor those who served our nation.
Congressman Kim is the Ranking Member on the Military Personnel Subcommittee, and a member of the House Armed Services Committee, the Foreign Affairs Committee, and the House Select Committee on Strategic Competition between the United States and the Chinese Communist Party.
