Reykjavik (Agenzia Fides) – The first webinar of the Northern European countries on the Pope’s message for the next World Mission Day “Go and invite everyone to the banquet” (see Mt 22:9) is scheduled for this evening at 6.00 pm (PM CET). Organized by the International Secretariat of the Pontifical Missionary Union (PMU) in collaboration with Missio Nordica, the “unitary direction” of the Pontifical Mission Societies (PMS) which brings together Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway and Sweden, this webinar in English is open to all. The program includes a video greeting message from Cardinal Luis Antonio Gokim Tagle, Pro-Prefect of the Dicastery for Evangelization – (Section for the first evangelization and the new particular Churches), who will introduce the message of Pope Francis for World Mission Day 2024, on which the Secretary General of the Pontifical Missionary Union, Father Dinh Anh Nhue Nguyen, OFMConv, will offer an in-depth analysis of the contents, particularly emphasizing the passage where the Holy Father hopes for the start of “a new missionary movement” throughout the Church and throughout the world to which “everyone can contribute: with prayer and action, with offerings of money and suffering, with their own testimony (Message of the Holy Father World Mission Day 2023)”. The National Director of Missio Nordica, Ivan Sovic, is scheduled to speak next, while the final space is dedicated to possible discussion and comments from participants. “This webinar,” explains the Director of Missio Nordica, “represents a milestone for our office, as we strive to promote the missionary spirit of the Church and share our message with the people of God in the Nordic region. The Catholic Church in the Nordic countries is primarily a community of foreigners and immigrants, with members from almost every country in the world, which makes it truly Catholic in a universal sense. I hope that we will come out of this webinar with renewed energy to go and invite everyone, to build a more visible presence of the Pontifical Mission Societies and to cultivate a Church in the Nordic region aware of its missionary spirit”.
