On September 2, 2024, a ceremonial celebration of Knowledge Day and the beginning of the new academic year was held in the Assembly Hall of the State University of Management.
It was called the most picturesque in history because the event was held under the slogan “The Art of Management”, and the host’s assistant was Leonardo da Vinci’s muse, Gioconda, animated by a neural network. She told about the program of the holiday and showed funny videos to set the mood. After the parade with the flags of the GUU institutes, their heads, representatives of the rector’s office and honorary guests took to the stage.
Deputy Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation Olga Petrova congratulated the students in a video format, saying that this is certainly a special day for the guys who entered the doors of GUU for the first time – the start of a new stage of life – student life. “This is the period when you lay the foundation for your future life, make new friends and begin the path to your dream job. Of course, there will be difficulties ahead, but you will learn to overcome them. Let this be the most wonderful stage in your life,” the Deputy Minister wished. Olga Viktorovna also called GUU a university of service that trains great professionals and brings up harmonious personalities in them.
Vladimir Stroyev, the rector of the State University of Management, who is on a business trip, also addressed the audience in a video format. “I greet you from the fields of the Eastern Economic Forum. I know for sure that the hall is full now, because our university is one big family. I congratulate the first-year students on the beginning of the academic year in their new status as students. I wish you success in your studies, and welcome to the family,” the rector greeted the new generation.

Vice-Rector Dmitry Bryukhanov greeted the first-year students of the First Management University of the country and informed them that they represent a special group, because the university turned 105 this year. “Over the years, the university has changed many names, but the core element has always remained the same – we created and are creating the management elite of the Soviet Union and the Russian Federation,” said Dmitry Yuryevich. The Vice-Rector also mentioned the campus’s opportunities and extracurricular activities.
The Executive Secretary of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Collective Security Treaty Organization, Sergei Pospelov, was introduced by his position, but immediately said that first and foremost he would like to be considered a graduate of the State University of Management. He noted that he often visits his alma mater, but he has not been on the stage of the Assembly Hall for 20 years, since he played here in KVN as part of the team “Nezolotaya Molodezh” together with Garik Kharlamov. “You get a wonderful university and wonderful teachers. I see my teachers in the hall and I see my students, they are still together, like a real family. Be worthy of your parents, teachers and graduates of the State University of Management,” Sergei Valerievich admonished the first-year students.
Vice President of the Novard Group of Companies Vadim Kirillov graduated from the State University of Management more than 30 years ago and created his own business here with his friends. The businessman advised those who want to follow in his footsteps to be careful on the one hand, and trusting of their partners on the other.
Deputy Chairman of the Board for General Issues – Head of the Office of the All-Russian Public and State Movement of Children and Youth “Movement of the First” Marat Zakirov recalled that his organization unites youth from all over the country from Kaliningrad to Vladivostok, just as students from all over Russia study at the State University of Management, whom he sincerely wished to eventually become graduates.
Deputy Head of the All-Russian Student Project “Your Move” Maxim Bobrov congratulated those gathered on the start of a new stage of life, which will be filled with bright emotions and certain difficulties. He reported that about 2 million students are already participating in the scientific and educational tracks of the “Your Move” project, and invited first-year students of the State University of Management to join them in order to strengthen Russia together. Maxim Valerievich also presented commemorative signs to applicants who scored 100 points, who became students today.
Deputy Director General of the presidential platform “Russia – Land of Opportunities” Alexey Agafonov recorded a video greeting in which he admitted that he fondly remembers his student years at the State University of Management, called on first-year students to enjoy their student years, and invited them to collaborate with the presidential platform “Russia – Land of Opportunities”.
Afterwards, the students were introduced to the directors of all the institutes, invited to participate in the competition of personal scholarships from the GUU Graduates Association, and took the oath of a first-year student. And Dmitry Bryukhanov presented a symbolic pass to the university territory.
At the end of the event, the first-year students were addressed by the Chairperson of the Student Council, Valeria Burlakova, who promised them comprehensive support from the Student Council and wished them to enjoy their new life for all four years.
