Angola rejects inclusion of Cuba in list of terrorist countriesThe Association of Angolan alumni in Cuba, Caimaneros, rejected the economic, commercial and financial blockade of the United States against the Caribbean nation and its inclusion in the list of countries that supposedly sponsor terrorism. During the inauguration ceremony of the new heads of the social organs of the organization, the new president of the Assembly Board, Nelson Pereira de Sousa, raised his voice on behalf of the associates because “it is not possible to allow the lie to prevail.” In his words, Pereira de Sousa alluded to the challenge that the Caimaneros have ahead in the work period 2024-2027, during which they aspire to grow the organization and work more cohesively. It was a sentiment also shared by the new president of the board of directors, José Álvaro, who urged to walk together, to reflect on what has been done well and try to improve it, as well as to work on what was left pending and look abroad to take advantage of opportunities and Likewise, the outgoing presidents of the Assembly Board, Manuel Jamba, and of the board of directors, Agostinho Narciso, wished success to the organization’s leadership and called on everyone to unity and joint work. The inauguration ceremony took place in the Auditorium of the National Archives of Angola and was attended by the cultural attaché of the Cuban Embassy in the country, Jorge Trujillo, and the third secretary, Maribys Pérez. Also present were the general secretary of the Angola-Cuba Friendship Association, Fernando Jaime, representatives of other allied organizations, the government of the province of Luanda and a representation of associates, including some from different provinces. The Caimaneros have delegations in all the provinces of the country and around two thousand associates. Characterized by its social work in favor of Angolan society, the Association has also maintained its solidarity towards Cuba and its people, expressed in statements of support and in donation campaigns at different times, such as the Covid-19 pandemic and the passage of Hurricane Ian in 2022.(Cubaminrex)
