Deputy Prime Minister Vitaly Savelyev made a working visit to St. Petersburg. Together with St. Petersburg Governor Alexander Beglov, he took part in events dedicated to the launch of the jubilee, 25th Baltiets train on the St. Petersburg metro line, and got acquainted with the work of the production sites of PK Transport Systems, a Russian developer and manufacturer of modern innovative urban electric transport, and the Oktyabrsky Electric Car Repair Plant, which specializes in the production of railway equipment. Vitaly Savelyev also held a meeting of the coordinating council for the development of the St. Petersburg transport hub.
The Deputy Prime Minister noted the importance of the transport sector for St. Petersburg and the high rate of its development. “The development of the transport complex is of fundamental importance for St. Petersburg and is one of the priority areas of work for the regional administration. This directly affects the growth of the level of mobility of passengers and goods and the improvement of the quality of life of citizens. The results of the work are impressive – the infrastructure, rolling stock of ground and underground public transport are significantly updated. New technologies are widely introduced in the transport complex, this helps to strengthen the image of St. Petersburg as a city with a modern and developed transport infrastructure,” said Vitaly Savelyev.
The meeting of the coordinating council for the development of the St. Petersburg transport hub discussed issues of construction of transport infrastructure facilities, new highways, metro development and rolling stock renewal. Participants also discussed issues of construction of the Moscow-St. Petersburg high-speed railway and current tasks in the field of digitalization of the industry.
After the council meeting, St. Petersburg Governor Alexander Beglov thanked Vitaly Savelyev for his participation in the implementation of major city projects and presented him with the “For Services to St. Petersburg” badge of distinction.
“All the projects that were discussed at the meeting of the coordinating council for the development of the St. Petersburg transport hub are aimed at satisfying the current needs of city residents; they will contribute to the creation of additional impulses for the socio-economic development of St. Petersburg and the Leningrad Region,” Vitaly Savelyev emphasized.
