WASHINGTON – The Des Moines International Airport (DSM) will receive over $5 million from the Federal Aviation Administration’s (FAA) Airport Terminals Program?to fund the construction of new terminal areas. The Airport Terminals Program was created by the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA), which Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) supported in 2021.? 

“The Des Moines International Airport is a gateway to the State of Iowa, supporting high volume passenger travel and moving our world-class products to market,” Grassley said. “By investing in this piece of critical infrastructure, we’re strengthening our local businesses and communities. I backed the bipartisan infrastructure law with Iowa’s future in mind, and I’m glad to see our airports continue to benefit.” 

Background:

DSM will receive $5,357,143 under this FAA grant. DSM has received funding from this program each year since its creation in the Bipartisan Infrastructure Act. The funds will be used to modernize current airport infrastructure, bolster accessibility and efficiency and construct several common use terminal areas.
