Dmitry Patrushev held an extended meeting on the issues of the fire season and forecasting the development of flood conditions in the territories of the Far Eastern Federal District

As part of a working trip to the Khabarovsk Territory, Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Patrushev held an extended meeting on the passage of the fire season and the forecast for the development of flood conditions in the constituent entities of the Far Eastern Federal District. The participants discussed the current situation, preventive measures, as well as additional measures that can be taken locally to prevent the consequences of negative natural phenomena.

As was noted during the meeting, in the country as a whole, about 3.6 thousand fires have been recorded since the beginning of the year. The area covered by the fire was 1.2 million hectares. This is less than last year, but the figure is ahead of the five-year average. Dmitry Patrushev recalled that the President of Russia has set the task of significantly reducing the area of forest fires in the country. For this purpose, the government has approved targets for each region until 2030. The main task in this direction is to reduce the amount of damage caused by forest fires.

Speaking about the situation in the Far Eastern Federal District, Dmitry Patrushev noted that in 2024, the situation with forest fires in the district, although controlled, is very tense. Thus, in April-May, the greatest problems were recorded in the Khabarovsk Territory and the Jewish Autonomous Region. In Transbaikalia and Buryatia, the situation has now been stabilized, but it also developed very difficultly. The difficult situation remains in Yakutia.

The Deputy Prime Minister drew the attention of the event participants to the forecast of Roshydromet, according to which in the third ten days of June and July, due to dry and hot weather in the Far Eastern Federal District, the fire danger situation is expected to worsen, including in hard-to-reach and remote areas. In this regard, all regions of the district, in cooperation with federal departments, must ensure the prompt detection of outbreaks and the timely deployment of forces and means for extinguishing.

β€œLet me remind you that since 2024, by a separate government resolution, the algorithm of actions in the event of forest fires has been improved. A so-called traffic light scheme has been adopted with different levels of response depending on the complexity and duration of fires. This ensures management involvement for timely management decisions. Today, among other things, I expect to hear from the heads of regions how the established order is observed in practice,” said Dmitry Patrushev.

Another important topic of the meeting was the flood situation in the regions of the Far Eastern Federal District. The Deputy Prime Minister said that from the second half of June a season of rainy floods is expected, and therefore the water in the Amur River and its tributaries may rise. Potentially, floods could affect almost all parts of the district. In this regard, regions and interested departments must, no later than July 1, monitor and ensure the proper condition of hydraulic structures, clear under-bridge spaces, check the readiness of stormwater and culvert systems, and ensure full functionality of systems for promptly informing the population about flood conditions.
