Federal highway M-12 “East” under construction from Kazan to Yekaterinburg

Deputy Prime Minister Marat Khusnullin flew over the M-12 Vostok federal highway under construction from Kazan to Yekaterinburg and held a meeting to discuss the progress of construction of the highway extension.

“This year we are faced with the task of opening a labor movement from Kazan to Yekaterinburg. The extension of M-12 will be about 800 km and will pass through the territories of the Republics of Tatarstan and Bashkortostan, the Perm Territory and the Sverdlovsk Region. The site will give impetus to their socio-economic development, as well as the development of infrastructure, tourism and business. During the flyby, we examined in detail the current condition of the route and the degree of readiness. One of the key objects on the site will be a new road from the city of Dyurtyuli to the village of Achit. Active work has been carried out along the entire route. For example, in the Sverdlovsk region, the first kilometer of road surface was laid, consisting of all three layers. At the same time, the lower layer of coating has already been laid for 22.8 km. In addition, we are building a bypass of Nizhnekamsk and Naberezhnye Chelny with a length of about 81 km, as well as a bypass of five settlements in Bashkortostan. In addition, existing sections of the M-7 highway are being reconstructed with the expansion of the roadway to four lanes,” said Marat Khusnullin.

The Deputy Prime Minister added that additional work is being done on connecting the M-12 to existing roads, on multifunctional zones for motorists, and on covering the route with mobile communications.

The meeting was also attended by the chairman of the board of the state company Avtodor Vyacheslav Petushenko, deputy head of the Federal Road Agency Andrei Samaryanov, representatives of customers and contractors.

Let us remind you that in December 2023, traffic opened on 810 km of the M-12 “East” highway from Moscow to Kazan.
