Dive into the harrowing story of Ntabo Ntaberi Sheka, the notorious warlord who brought terror to the heart of Congo. This short documentary uncovers the relentless pursuit of justice by the United Nations and Congolese authorities. Witness the intense trial and tireless efforts of those who refused to let his crimes go unpunished. From the dense jungles of Congo to the courthouse in Goma, follow the journey that led to a historic verdict and a glimmer of hope for justice in a war-torn region.

The trial of warlord Ntabo Ntaberi Sheka was the most complex case the courts of eastern Congo had ever handled. 387 women and children raped, 287 dead in 13 villages across the North Kivu region. Testimonies described mass rapes, beheadings, and the most abominable atrocity crimes. The time had come for the truth to be told. The UN peacekeeping mission in DR Congo (MONUSCO) and other partners provided technical, logistical, and financial support throughout the investigation and trial, including engagement with military justice authorities, victim outreach, building the court and the detention facilities. The ‘Sheka’ trial was just one case. Atrocities are being committed on a mass scale in conflict-affected countries around the world. The film is supported by animations by the famous Iranian animator Majid Adin who worked with Elton John on the re-release of his Rocket Man video in 2017.
