Public Services and Procurement Canada (PSPC) is committed to protecting the security of Canadians by continually investing in its infrastructure.

Today, the Honorable Jean-Yves Duclos, Minister of Public Services and Procurement, announced that the Government of Canada has awarded a contract worth more than $13.5 million (taxes not included). ) to Peters Brothers Construction Ltd. for an asphalt paving project on the Alaska Highway.

The contract provides for the repair of the asphalt roadway over a 61 kilometer section. The work involves grinding the existing asphalt, removing the defective coating and applying a layer of asphalt. They will take place between kilometer 390 and 451 of the Alaska Highway, near Fort Nelson, British Columbia. This investment will improve the condition and safety of aging asphalt and extend the life of the road surface.

The competitive procurement process for this project also includes a significant component of subcontracting to Indigenous businesses which represents more than 20% of the contract value, with a view to generating socio-economic benefits for members of the indigenous communities and indigenous businesses in the region.
