At the All-Russian Olympiad on Electric Power Systems, students of the Polytechnic Institute of Energy became winners and prize-winners in team and individual competitions. 85 participants from 14 universities competed for the title of best.

The Olympiad was held with the aim of identifying talented students who have deep knowledge, skills and abilities in the professional field. And also to encourage participants who showed the best results in studying certain sections of the disciplines: “Electric power systems and networks”, “Transient processes in electric power systems”, “Relay protection”, “Electrical part of power plants and substations”.

The Institute of Energy was represented by two teams at once. Polytechnics won gold and bronze.

1st place: Alexander Filin, Mikhail Chuprynenko, Boris Plodisty, Roman Ryazanov, Ivan Panevin. 3rd place: Andrey Klevakin, Alexey Tumanov, Andrey Florinsky, Alexander Abubakirov, Kirill Dolbin.

In the individual competition, IE students took all the prizes.

Ilya Kukhtalev received a diploma for the best solution of problems in the discipline “Relay Protection and Automation”.

Also, representatives of the Institute of Energy of St. Petersburg Polytechnic University distinguished themselves at the International Olympiad in Theoretical Electrical Engineering, which has been held at the Moscow Energy Institute since 1971. Over 180 students from 26 universities took part in it. A distinctive feature of this year’s Olympiad was the ability to choose a topic for one of the tasks, since the list of topics was quite extensive.

The polytechnics took two third places at once.

Group I: Alexander Abdullin, Vladislav Kravchenko, Daniil Lattu, Group II: Yulia Spasenkova, Ekaterina Fedotyuk (IKNK), Ilya Voronin, Alexey Vasiliev, Margarita Goltseva, Denis Muskatin. In the individual championship, Alexey Vasiliev took third place.

The team leader is Associate Professor of the Higher School of High-Voltage Energy Evgeniy Bodrenkov.
