Jeremy Perelman is the new Director of International Affairs at Sciences Po. He will gradually take up his duties from June 1, 2024 until August 26, when he will be able to fully dedicate himself to his mission. He succeeds Vanessa Scherrer, appointed general delegate of the National Foundation Cité Internationale universitaire de Paris.

At Sciences Po, Jeremy Perelman will be responsible for steering institutional international policy as well as the strategy for international university partnerships. In this capacity, he will be responsible for representing the institution and strengthening its attractiveness within the various international networks.

A teacher and researcher with an international profile

Jeremy Perelman holds a master’s degree in international law (Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne), a master’s degree in international law (Stanford Law School), a master’s degree in international relations (Fletcher School, Tufts University), as well as a doctorate (Doctor of Juridical Science, Harvard Law School).

He taught in the United States before joining Sciences Po in 2011 as Associate Professor. Its courses focus on human rights, social-economic rights, poverty, inequality, international investment and sustainable development. He teaches students at the University College, the School of Law and the School of International Affairs (PSIA).

He also participates in multiple research, teaching and advocacy projects in the areas of human rights, poverty reduction and development in the United States, Africa and Latin America, projects which have resulted in of numerous publications.

He is also a member of the editorial board of the European Journal of Human Rights and, since 2022, a member of the scientific council of Iddri.

At the head of the Law School Clinic for 12 years

Since its creation in 2012, he has been director of the Clinique de the law school, which today welcomes students from the School of Law, PSIA and the Urban School in six programs.

In this capacity, he co-led a working group on educational innovation at Sciences Po in 2015 and for two years. In 2022, he was a visiting professor at Columbia Law School as well as New York University. He has overseen the international relations of the School of Law since September 2023.
