Secretary for Labour & Welfare Chris Sun today kicked off a visit to Fujian by meeting senior provincial officials and attending a seminar in Fuzhou.

Mr Sun first paid a courtesy call to Fujian Executive Vice Governor Guo Ningning. He updated her on Hong Kong’s policy initiatives to recruit and support talent, and on its labour market and economic situation.

He then called on Fujian Department of Commerce Director Huang Heming, at a lunch gathering, to exchange views on the management and supervision of importing labour to Hong Kong.

He also met beneficiaries of the Fujian Scheme, under the Social Security Allowance Scheme, to understand the needs of Hong Kong elderly people retiring in Fujian.

In the afternoon, Mr Sun attended a seminar to get a better grasp of the practical experiences of Fujian enterprises co-operating with Hong Kong under various labour importation schemes.

The seminar focused on how to use different schemes to meet the recruitment needs of employers, whilst also protecting the employment rights of imported workers in Hong Kong,

In the evening, Mr Sun had dinner with representatives of the Hong Kong Chamber of Commerce in Fujian to learn more about investments by Hong Kong businesses in Fujian and support in the province for Hong Kong residents and enterprises.

He encouraged enterprises and talent in Hong Kong and Fujian to strengthen exchange and co-operation so as to integrate into overall national development.
