Detectives are offering a £10,000 reward for information as they continue to appeal for information to trace a man who is wanted in connection with a murder in Newham.
Ryan Igbinovia is a suspect in the investigation into the murder of Michael Fadeyibi, who was stabbed to death in a violent attack in Henniker Road, E15, on 6 August 2021.
One person has already been convicted for Michael’s death, but Igbinovia, who is aged 26, has not yet been located. He has linked to the Stratford area of east London, southeast London and Birmingham.
Detective Chief Inspector Kelly Allen, from the Met’s Specialist Crime Command, said:
“Michael’s family have been devastated by his death and they deserve to see both those responsible brought to justice.
“I am certain that somebody will know where Igbinovia is hiding. If you have seen him, or know where he is, then I would implore you to please get in touch. If you don’t want to speak to the police, you can provide information anonymously to the independent charity Crimestoppers.”
Charlie Fadeyibi, Michael’s father, said:
“On Friday 6th of August 2021 my son Michael was cruelly taken away. On that day we lost a beloved son, brother and grandson. The men responsible took Michael from his mother – Michael along with his sister Rebecca are her whole life.
“I don’t think those responsible ever considered the impact to his family when they carried out their barbaric act, when they stabbed and killed our son. My daughter Rebecca was very close with her brother – to lose him, someone she loved and looked up to at such a young age, is just too much to bear.
“For her mother to not only lose her son but to witness the upset caused to her daughter, whilst coping with her own grief, is immeasurable. No human being deserves such a horrible death; I can’t imagine how terrified he must have been during his last moments, how he must have fought to his last breath, to stay alive.
“Two men are responsible for our son’s death and also for stabbing his friend, who fortunately survived. One of those males responsible was found guilty on the 4th July but the other male has never been apprehended. One year on I cannot describe how it feels as a father, knowing that one of the men responsible for my son’s death is still freely walking the streets.
“This man who hunted down our son with a knife and stabbed him could do this again. What then? Another young person could end up dead on our streets, another family’s world will be ripped apart. I appeal to anyone with information to get in contact with and assist police, so that he can be located and brought to trial.
“The death of my son Michael has broken me down in all aspects of life: mentally, emotionally and physically. We as a family are still awaiting for Christopher Owens-Wright to be sentenced since being found guilty of our son’s murder. Whatever he gets will never be justice for our son Michael’s life. It is us as a family who have been given a life sentence which started the day that Michael was murdered. We will never see our son again, nor my daughter her brother, her best friend.”
The Met is offering a substantial reward of up to £10,000 for information leading to the location and arrest of Ryan Igbinovia.
The fatal assault happened in the early hours of 6 August 2021 in Henniker Road, E15. Michael had been pursued through the streets and stabbed times. Emergency services were called to the scene but nothing could be done to save Michael.
Anyone with information about Ryan Igbinovia’s whereabouts is asked to call the police incident room on 020 8345 1570. Alternatively, you can speak to the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
+ Christopher Owens-Wright, 23 (21.06.99) of Chatsworth Road, E15, was found guilty of the murder and section 18 GBH at Inner London Crown Court on 4 July 2022. He will be sentenced at the same court on 16 September.
