Extension of the deadline for the popular initiative “1% against global poverty” The government council is requesting an extension of the deadline for the popular initiative “1% against global poverty”. According to the law, formulated initiatives must be presented to those entitled to vote within 18 months. With the consent of the initiative committee, the Grand Council can decide to extend or interrupt these deadlines. For the present initiative, the government council would like to extend the deadline for its reporting and for holding the referendum by twelve months.
Status of implementation of the Disability ActThe government council reports for the third time on the status of implementation of the requirements of the Disability Act on the tram and bus network. He gives an account of tram, combi and bus stops that have already been implemented, costs and the progress of further planning. The Great Council will take note of the report.
Parliamentary initiatives Among the four new motions is the demand to strengthen cyber security for state administrations, companies and private individuals in Basel-Stadt, including a cybercrime reporting office and awareness campaigns. Another motion would like to abolish naturalization fees for people under the age of 25 and finally another motion calls for quick concepts for schools so that they can deal with future pandemic crises.
