The municipality of Steinhausen analyzed the wages of the employees and had them examined by an external auditor. The result is pleasing. The federal law on equality between men and women has been revised and has been in force since July 1, 2020. This stipulates that companies with more than 100 employees must carry out an internal equal pay analysis and have this checked by an independent body. The Federal Office for Equal Opportunities for Men and Women has developed an analysis tool that was also used for the wage equality analysis in the municipality of Steinhausen. Employers have until June 30, 2023 to inform employees of the results of the first analysis. The wages of the reference month February 2021 (during the reporting period July 1, 2020 to June 30, 2021) of 321 employees (230 women and 91 men) were included in the analysis.

No factual gender effect to be seen in SteinhausenThe wage equality analysis shows that the average wages of women and men differ slightly. Taking into account differences in skill characteristics and job-related characteristics, women earn 2.3% less. The remaining wage difference, which cannot be explained either by differences in personal qualifications or by job-related characteristics, cannot be statistically significantly distinguished from zero. This means that, according to the standard analysis model, there is no statistically unexplained wage difference between women and men in the narrower sense. This is confirmed by the independent auditor who examined and checked the Steinhauser wage equality analysis.

The municipal administration of Steinhausen shows a good result, in which all legal requirements are also met. Equal pay between men and women has been proven. The council is very pleased with the result of the analysis.
