This year’s competition theme for Oklahoma’s 1stcongressional district was “Creative Oklahoma: Celebrating Oklahoma’s rich contribution to the arts.” Garcia’s “Oklahoma Bison” drawing was the winning piece of art that will be displayed in the Cannon tunnel at the U.S. Capitol. A flight to Washington D.C. will be provided for Garcia and a companion of his choosing to see his work displayed in person.

“I am inspired by the young talent we have in Oklahoma,” said Rep. Hern. “Oklahomans have a beautiful history as artists, innovators, and entrepreneurs that the next generation of Oklahomans are ready to enhance. I am excited to show Abraham his displayed work and pass this stunning drawing everyday as it hangs in the halls of Congress and reminds me of home.”
