The Parliamentary State Secretary Dr. Franziska Brantner is traveling to Lithuania this Thursday. She will attend the 25th anniversary celebration of the Baltic Chamber of Commerce Abroad (AHK Baltikum) in Vilnius and meet the Lithuanian Minister of Energy, Mr. Dainius Kreivy, to discuss energy security and renewable energy issues. Among other things, the focus will be on independence from Russian energy imports and the future of energy supply. She will also meet with the Deputy Minister for Economy and Innovation, Jovita Neliupšienė. On Friday in Estonia she will meet, among others, the Estonian Minister for Foreign Trade, IT Solutions and Entrepreneurship, Andres Sutt, on digital policy issues. A meeting with representatives of start-ups is also planned. Parliamentary State Secretary Dr. Brantner: “Ambitious climate protection, the diversification of the energy supply, the expansion of renewable energies, the development of a European market for green hydrogen and increasing energy efficiency are more urgent than ever today. The Russian war of aggression against Ukraine shows us that a rapid expansion of renewable energies is essential in order to become independent of Russian energy as quickly as possible. The Baltic countries started doing this early on. Estonia and Lithuania are focusing on the expansion of renewable energies, especially the expansion of offshore wind.”
