The ‘farm to fork’ strategy is one of the core components of the Green Deal: ‘The Farm to Fork Strategy is at the heart of the European Green Deal aiming to make food systems fair, healthy and environmentally-friendly.’(1) At the same time, excessive bureaucratic regulations are already making life difficult for smaller farms in particular and any additional red tape resulting from this initiative could therefore jeopardise their very existence.

1. What specific measures does the Commission intend to take to safeguard the existence of small farms in particular?

2. What specific adjustments does the Commission intend to make to its ‘farm to fork’ strategy in order to safeguard the existence of small and medium-sized farms in future?

3. What strategic objective could the Commission be pursuing with the deliberate elimination of small and medium-sized farms?
