MIL-OSI Russia: Russian peacekeepers will provide water for more than 300 families in remote settlements of Nagorno-Karabakh within two weeks

Russian peacekeepers have begun to perform tasks to ensure security during repair and restoration work on the water pipeline in the Askeran region near the demarcation line in Nagorno-Karabakh.

Specialists of the humanitarian response center of the Russian peacekeeping contingent processed the request of the head of the Askeran region and proceeded to ensure the safety of workers for two weeks while carrying out engineering work on the laying of a water main near the line of demarcation of the sides.

“The administration of the Askeran region addressed the public reception of the Russian peacekeeping contingent with a request to ensure safety during the laying of the pipeline to the nearby settlement of Khramort. The command of the Russian peacekeeping contingent decided to provide assistance in laying this pipeline. These works will be carried out for two weeks, as a result of which the settlement of Khramort will be fully provided with water, “said Andrey Reznikov, a representative of the Russian peacekeeping contingent.

After the completion of the work, with the assistance of Russian peacekeepers, more than 300 families of the village of Khramort will be provided with drinking water through the pipeline.

Last month, with the assistance of Russian peacekeepers, a water well was launched to supply drinking water through a pipeline to more than 2,000 residents of the villages of Krasny Bazar and Tagavard in the Martuni district. Also, the peacekeepers continue to ensure the safety of workers when working on the water supply system in the village of Machkalashen, Martuni region. After the completion of the work, more than 400 residents of the settlement will be provided with drinking water in the Martuni district.

In accordance with the agreements specified in the joint statement of the President of the Russian Federation, the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia, from 00:00 Moscow time on November 10, 2020, a complete ceasefire and all hostilities in Nagorno-Karabakh were announced.

A peacekeeping contingent of the Russian Federation has been deployed to control the ceasefire and military operations in Nagorno-Karabakh.
