About 2 thousand motorized riflemen of the 49th combined-arms army of the Southern Military District (YuVO), stationed in the Stavropol Territory, began to march to the point of permanent deployment (PPD) after participating in a command-staff exercise at the Opuk training ground in Crimea.
Subdivisions of the Southern Military District will overcome more than 1.1 thousand km in a combined way. On the march, motorized riflemen, in cooperation with attached subunits, will repel a simulated enemy air raid and an attack by a reconnaissance and sabotage group.
Upon arrival at the PPD, the units will begin to transfer the equipment and weapons involved in the command and control system to the winter mode of operation.
During the exercise at the Opuk training ground, the personnel of the formation completed the tasks of conducting a defensive battle, searching for and destroying sabotage and reconnaissance groups, withdrawing from the battle and retreating to designated areas for regrouping forces and equipment.
In the South of Russia and in the places of deployment of Russian military bases in the Transcaucasus, a bilateral command-staff exercise on command and control of troops in the South-West strategic direction has been completed.
Under the leadership of the commander of the Southern Military District, General of the Army Alexander Dvornikov, battalion tactical groups of formations and military units of the district, in a single tactical plan, conducted bilateral tactical exercises at 25 combined-arms training grounds located in the Astrakhan, Volgograd and Rostov regions, in the Kuban and Stavropol regions, in the republics of the North Caucasus. in Crimea, as well as at Russian military bases in Abkhazia, Armenia and South Ossetia.
More than 8,000 servicemen from the three combined-arms armies, the Black Sea Fleet and the Caspian Flotilla, the Air Force and Air Defense Combine, formations and units of the combat arms and special forces of district subordination were involved in practical actions in the field.
