In the troops of the Eastern Military District, one of the main preventive measures to prevent the deterioration of the situation is the implementation of anti-epidemic and preventive measures, the so-called restrictive or barrier measures to prevent the import and spread of a new coronavirus infection. This was announced by the head of the medical service of the Eastern Military District, colonel of the medical service Arsalan Balzhinimaev during a press conference.

This work in the military district began long before the detection of the first cases began, in January 2020. From the first days of organizing and conducting barrier measures, the work of the command of the military district was organized in accordance with the instructions of the operational headquarters of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation under the leadership of the First Deputy Minister of Defense of the Russian Federation Tsalikov Ruslan Khadzhismelovich.

The basis of the regime-restrictive measures are barrier medical examinations of all personnel arriving at the territory of military units or military organizations, observance of social distance and mask regime, restriction of cultural events.

In addition, with regard to conscripts, this is the early and active detection of cases and their timely isolation. Disinfection of places of residence and places of holding mass events by personnel.

The implementation of these measures in the military district is under the daily control of the commander of the military district, Colonel-General Gennady Valerievich Zhidko.

In March 2020, even before the first patient was identified, the troops of the military district conducted comprehensive exercises to deploy a medical support system throughout the military district. During the exercise, the issues of admitting patients to military hospitals, the formation and operational deployment of mobile units of the medical service, the timely provision of medical equipment, and interaction issues were worked out.

The practiced actions during the exercises subsequently made it possible to efficiently use the forces and means of the medical service. Thanks to the measures taken, military hospitals operated almost as usual, and in some garrisons they provided assistance to the civilian population.

Four multifunctional medical centers in 2020, and this year, a new infectious corps of a military hospital in Sakhalin provided great assistance in treating patients with a new coronavirus infection.

After the commissioning of medical centers, the possibilities of providing medical care, including to the civilian population, have almost doubled.

To date, more than 1,300 servicemen and over 1,000 civilians have received treatment in multifunctional centers.

With the receipt of the vaccine against coronavirus infection in the troops of the military district, the vaccination campaign began. In a short time, an effective vaccination control system was built. It is important to note that the age composition of the Armed Forces is mainly from 18 to 60 years old, and has practically no obvious contraindications to immunization.

The culmination of the vaccination campaign was the vaccination of more than 98% of personnel, with the exception of only personnel with medical contraindications.

“Since July 2021, the troops of the military district have begun to conduct revaccination of personnel. To date, more than
50% of the personnel “- summed up the colonel of the medical service Arsalan Balzhinimaev.
