MIL-OSI Russia: A large-scale closing ceremony of the international Russian-Mongolian exercise “Selenga-2021” was held in Mongolia

On the main square of the city of Zuun Mod (Central aimag, Mongolia), near the Doytyn Am training ground, a solemn procession of units of the Eastern Military District (VVO) and the armed forces of Mongolia took place, dedicated to the closing ceremony of the joint Russian-Mongolian exercise Selenga-2021.

The closing ceremony was attended by Deputy Commander of the Air Defense Forces Lieutenant General Mikhail Nosulev, Minister of Defense of Mongolia G. Saykhanbayar, Chief of the Ground Forces of Mongolia B. Amgalanbaatar, head of the exercise from the Russian side, Major General Igor Timofeev, from the Mongolian side – Brigadier General G. Ontsgoibayar.

Mongolian Defense Minister G. Saikhanbayar greeted and congratulated the participants in the international military exercise. In his address to the participants in the exercise, the minister noted that relations and cooperation in the field of defense between our countries have been developing rapidly in recent years, the Selenga exercises are important for ensuring security, improving professional skills and exchanging experience between servicemen.

After that, in front of the rostrum, the distinguished servicemen of Russia and Mongolia were awarded medals of the Ministry of Defense and valuable gifts. The commanders of the tactical groups of the two friendly countries lowered the flag with the emblem of the Selenga exercise as a sign of its completion.

Military units of the Air Defense Forces and the Armed Forces of Mongolia marched in a solemn march in front of the tribune, and helicopters of the Air Defense Forces Mi-8amtsh and Mi-24 flew in the sky over the square.

The solemn event ended with the performance of the Russian combined ensemble “Selenga” on the stage of the theater in the city of Zuun Mod with a rich concert program. For the first time, military artists performed a song in the Mongolian language especially for the Mongolian guests.

Recall that the joint Russian-Mongolian military exercise “Selenga” is aimed at combating international terrorism. Every year in the exercise, various episodes of tactical actions are played out and new techniques of modern combat are being worked out. This year, servicemen of a motorized rifle unit of the combined arms army of the Air Defense Forces deployed in the Republic of Buryatia and units of the Mongolian Armed Forces with a total strength of about 1.5 thousand people and more than 200 units of military equipment were involved in the exercise.
