The Prime Minister, Mario Draghi, expresses his warmest and most heartfelt congratulations to Professor Giorgio Parisi on the victory of the Nobel Prize in Physics, on behalf of the Government and its staff. Professor Parisi is a pioneer of research in theoretical physics and has linked his name to decisive discoveries in the field of quantum chromodynamics and the study of complex disordered systems, from the atomic to the planetary scale. For his works he has already won some of the most important international prizes in physics and science, such as the Boltzmann Medal, the Dirac Medal, the Lagrange Prize, the Max Planck Medal and the Wolf Prize.
The contributions of Professor Parisi over a bright career of over 50 years have been crucial for the understanding of fundamental phenomena and have profoundly influenced many other fields of knowledge, from cognitive sciences, to biology, to social sciences. President Emeritus of the Accademia dei Lincei, Professor Parisi is an intellectual reference for generations of students and researchers and for the whole country.
The Prime Minister will receive Professor Parisi at Palazzo Chigi to congratulate him on the extraordinary success.
