Within the framework of the work agenda that the Vice President and Chancellor, Marta Lucia Ramírez, in India, held a dialogue with the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Subrahmanyam Jaishankar, in which issues of health and pharmaceutical products, biotechnology are highlighted. and outer space as well as the promotion of trade and investment between the two countries.

At the meeting of senior officials, two letters of intent were signed that deepen cooperation efforts in the areas of biomedical research and knowledge transfer to improve health, reduce diseases and the development of vaccines. In addition to strengthening capacities in human, scientific, infrastructure and specialized biomedical knowledge to allow improvements in health and living conditions.

The Vice President and Chancellor also proposed that Colombia be India’s port of entry in Latin America, taking into account the commercial relationship of 2.7 billion dollars per year and with 17 FTAs, where Colombia will have access to markets of 600 million people in areas such as software, BPO, energy, and motorcycles, among many others.

At the meeting, accompanied by 35 businessmen from the pharmaceutical industry, we worked all the time with the Minister of Health, Fernando Ruiz; with the Vice Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation, Sergio Cristancho and also with the Director of Cooperation of the Foreign Ministry, Álvaro Calderón, who will develop the different aspects of this bilateral relationship under the leadership of our ambassador to India, Mariana Pacheco.
