MIL OSI Translation. Region: Russian Federation –

In St. Petersburg, at the airfield of a separate helicopter regiment, a rescue paratrooper group of the Leningrad Air Force and Air Defense Association of the Western Military District was trained.

Rescuers practiced parachute jumps to delay the opening of the backpack from the Mi-8 multipurpose transport helicopter, as well as landing on a site of limited size. The exercise was performed at an altitude of 1700 meters. After 20 seconds of free fall, the parachute canopy opens and lands at a given point.

To make the jumps, a special-purpose parachute system “Arbalet-1” was used, designed to perform special tasks with landing on unprepared sites in difficult meteorological conditions.

During the training, more than 20 sorties were made, more than 50 parachute jumps were made.
