More than 100 students of the leading universities of the capital will take part in it.

The IV Youth Forum “Heritage”, an educational project of the Moscow Department of Cultural HeritageOrganized in partnership with leading universities in the capital. Over three years, over 12 thousand people took part in it. The main goal of the event is to popularize cultural heritage and knowledge about the features of its preservation. According to Natalya Sergunina, Deputy Mayor of Moscow, the forum includes a competitive program, business and educational.

“This year more than 100 students of the capital’s universities will participate in the competition program. They will be joined by participants from the regions – Kazan, Samara, Vladimir, Yekaterinburg, Nizhny Novgorod, St. Petersburg and Crimea. The organizers have prepared a separate task for them. The children will have to create a concept for the development of one of the cultural heritage sites of their city so that it becomes a point of attraction for local residents and tourists. Within the framework of the competition, students of the capital’s universities will be invited to develop projects for the restoration and integration into the life of the metropolis of the ensemble of the Moscow Imperial Orphanage, the largest building of the pre-revolutionary period.

The forum was attended by representatives of 13 universities, including the Moscow State University named after M.V. Lomonosov Moscow Architectural Institute, National Research University Higher School of Economics, Moscow State Law University named after O.E. Kutafina, National Research Moscow State University of Civil Engineering, Russian Academy of National Economy and Public Administration under the President of the Russian Federation, Moscow City University of Management of the Government of Moscow named after Yu.M. Luzhkov, Moscow State University of Geodesy and Cartography, Moscow Financial and Industrial University “Synergy”, State University of Management, Moscow State Art and Industry Academy named after S.G. Stroganov, Russian Economic University named after G.V. Plekhanov and College of Architecture, Design and Reengineering No. 26.

The students were divided into several interdisciplinary teams so that each of them included representatives of different specialties: restorers, architects, historians, sociologists, urbanists, economists, lawyers and managers. In addition, this year, for the first time, students from the University Gymnasium of Moscow State University named after M.V. Lomonosov. Schoolchildren will be included in teams on an equal footing with students.

The educational part of the forum will host lectures, master classes, as well as expert consultations in the field of architecture, restoration, urbanism, history, economics, law, management and sociology. Owners of cultural heritage sites, investors, practicing restorers, eminent architects and scientists will meet with students.

“Our goal is to immerse young people in the topic of heritage preservation during these two months. I would like to show students how important and multifaceted the problem of integrating architectural monuments into the life of a constantly changing metropolis is. To this end, we have prepared a very diverse educational program, in which, in addition to the usual lectures and consultations, for the first time included visits to various cultural heritage sites, where restoration is now underway, as well as master classes in restoration workshops, “said the head of the Department of Cultural Heritage of the city of Moscow

The forum will end with a two-day business program. It will be attended by representatives of the professional community, government authorities, foreign experts in the field of urbanism, architecture and the media. There will also be a plenary session, round tables and presentation of student projects. Competition works will be evaluated by a jury, which will include heads and professors of participating universities, as well as experts chaired by the head of the Moscow City Heritage Site.

Everyone will be able to attend the event as listeners – electronic registration will open in November.
