MIL-OSI Russia: BPK “Vice-Admiral Kulakov” completed a business call in Cape Verde

A detachment of ships and vessels of the Northern Fleet, led by the large anti-submarine ship “Vice-Admiral Kulakov”, completed a business call at the port of Praia, the capital of the island republic of Cape Verde, which is located in the Atlantic Ocean off the western coast of Africa.

Anchorage of the ship and support vessels in the port lasted for two days. During this time, the Severomors replenished ship and ship supplies, mainly water and food, and also prepared for the next stage of the long voyage.

At noon Moscow time, the VPK “Vice-Admiral Kulakov” and the support vessels departed from the berths of the port of Praia and headed for the Atlantic Ocean.

The long voyage of a detachment of ships and vessels of the Northern Fleet will continue in the Central and Eastern Atlantic, where Russian sailors will not only demonstrate the St. Andrew’s flag and improve their skills, but will also perform a number of special tasks.

From the main base of the Northern Fleet in the city of Severomorsk, “Vice-Admiral Kulakov” left on 28 June. Its crew took part in the Main Naval Parade, and after its completion, it worked out individual episodes of practical actions in the Atlantic Ocean during a command and staff training in commanding the forces and troops of the Northern Fleet.

From August 18 to September 23, the North Sea men operated in the Mediterranean Sea. During this time, they made business calls to Algeria, Syria and Cyprus, and also conducted a number of exercises on various types of defense of a detachment of ships in the transition by sea and worked out the search for submarines of a conditional enemy.

Since leaving the base, the ships and vessels of the Northern Fleet detachment have covered about 15 thousand nautical miles.
