MIL-OSI Russia: Deck pilots of the Northern Fleet completed training on a simulator in Crimea

MIL OSI Translation. Region: Russian Federation –

Pilots of the Northern Fleet’s naval fighter aviation regiment on the Su-33 completed a flight training program at the ground engineering and technical aviation complex (NITKA), which simulates the flight deck of a heavy aircraft carrier, in the Crimea.

Under the guidance of an experienced instructor – Colonel Pavel Podguzov (one of the students of the legendary pilot Hero of Russia Timur Apakidze) and the commander of the air regiment, Lieutenant Colonel Vyacheslav Lunin, the training flight program was fully completed.

The Severomors flew on the Su-25 UTG training aircraft and on the combat Su-33.

The preparation lasted more than a month. During this time, seven pilots, including five young pilots of carrier-based aviation, managed to prepare for landing on the deck of the aircraft carrier. All of them took off from the ship’s springboard on a Su-33 fighter and independently landed on a ground simulator with an aircraft finisher cable hooked.

At present, the flight and technical personnel of the shipborne fighter aviation regiment are preparing to relocate from the Crimea to the Murmansk region to their permanent duty station. On the training simulator in Saki, they will be replaced by pilots of a separate shipborne fighter aviation regiment for the MiG-29K.
