To cushion the rise in the price of gas on October 1, 2021, the Government will pay exceptional aid of € 100 to beneficiaries of the Energy Voucher.
The Energy Regulatory Commission announced that regulated sales prices will increase by 12.6% including tax on October 1 (13.9% excluding tax).
Energy prices fell sharply in the first lockdown given the slowing global economy. They have been on the rise since November 2020 mainly due to the economic recovery.
Gas prices, in particular on European markets, are very high due in particular to strong global demand but also in parallel with a reduction in production in Russia and Norway.
Exceptional assistance of 100 €
The increase had been anticipated by the Government. The Prime Minister announced exceptional social assistance of € 100, which will be paid in December to people benefiting from the “energy check”:
This is an additional “energy check”, on top of the one paid in spring 2021 and the one that will be paid in spring 2022 (for an average amount of 150 euros);
It is a simplified “energy check”, automatically received, in the amount of € 100 for all eligible households, whether the household is heated with gas, oil or wood.
5.8 million people affected
Generalized by the Government in 2018, the energy voucher is a fair and efficient social assistance. Sent automatically, without any formality, between March and April each year, its amount varies from 48 to 277 euros (average amount of 150 euros). given its number of beneficiaries grow considerably: from 3.6 million in 2018 to 5.8 million in 2021.
