Two second, three third and several consolation prizes were also presented to outstanding entries of the contest, which was held from May 28 to August 7 by the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union (HCYU) in collaboration with the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment and United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Vietnam.
The winning entries were selected from the more than 400 submissions of youth union members and young people from 54 cities and provinces across Vietnam.
They focused on four major areas of creative communication, climate change mitigation, climate-responsible business strategies, and climate adaptation with a priority on nature-based solutions.
Speaking at the event, UNDP Deputy Resident Representative in Vietnam Patrick Haverman rejoiced at the fact that more and more practical and creative ideas have been put forward by young people to solve environmental and climate problems from the local level.
He also called on all young people to join hands for a greener, cleaner and more sustainable Vietnam in the future.
According to Secretary of the HCYU Central Committee Ngo Van Cuong, the contest’s outcomes illustrated the capacity and creativity of union members and young people in environmental protection and climate change adaptation.
Vietnamese youths can make further contributions and positive results to deal with the global climate crisis in the future, thus helping to promote sustainable development in Vietnam, he stressed.
