Responses to the federal consultations are available at www.ne.ch/ConsultationsFederalesCantonal affairs A new law on waste and polluted sites to meet federal obligations and progress in terms of sustainable development The new cantonal law on waste and polluted sites (LDSP) amends the law on waste treatment (LTD) and responds the broad lines of federal waste management policy aimed at limiting their production, strengthening the closure of material cycles and preventing the dispersion of pollutants present in the waste. It incorporates the new federal standards for waste recovery and the financing of urban waste management. The new LDSP notably provides for adapting the part of the financing of the management of this waste which can be covered by the tax to a maximum of 10%. This also materializes a financial improvement in favor of municipalities, promised at the time of the 2019 tax reform. In terms of polluted sites, federal legislation describes the steps and criteria leading to cleaning up landfills, business sites or shooting ranges which threaten the environment, which cantonal law completes by laying down the framework of responsibilities for the implementation of measures.
