Baar: Natural gas pipeline damaged – roads closed
A gas pipeline was damaged during construction work in the Zugerstrasse area. For security reasons, the Südstrasse and Zugerstrasse were closed. Nobody got hurt.
The incident occurred on Wednesday (September 22, 2021) at 1:00 p.m. During construction work with an excavator, a natural gas pipeline was hit on Zugerstrasse in the municipality of Baar, whereupon a so-called “tapping clamp” was torn off. This caused an unknown amount of gas to escape. As a result, loose stone material was initially thrown through the air.
The Zugerstrasse, the Südstrasse and parts of the tangent were then closed for security reasons.
Specialists from WWZ AG were subsequently able to close the gas leak again. Nobody got hurt. There was no immediate danger to the population.
Members of the Baar fire brigade as well as employees of WWZ AG and the Zug police were on duty.
