Who does this notice affect?
This notice is of relevance to importers, customs brokers and agents, exporters of live fish and other seafood, biosecurity industry participants and accredited persons operating under the department’s Approved Arrangements (classes 1.1, 1.2 and 1.3) who are involved in the import of used fish bins into Australian territories via air and sea freight.
What has changed?
As outlined in Industry Advice Notice 199-2021: Changes to import conditions for used fish bins the Department of Agriculture, Water and the Environment has amended the import conditions for fish bins used to export live fish and other seafood.
The new Biosecurity Import Conditions system (BICON) case specifically for fish bins has been published and is to be used for fish bins instead of the previously used ‘Articles and equipment used in water’ and ‘Animal transport equipment’.
