Press Release

(Erie County, N.Y.) – Congressman Chris Jacobs (NY-27) released the following statement after the Biden adminstration announced the U.S. land border crossing would remain closed to Canadians until at least October 21st, 2021.

“Once again, the Biden administration has completely failed WNY families and small businesses by indefinitely extending the US – Canada border closure. It should have been open months ago. The level of incompetence, and lack of consideration by this administration is astonishing.

“Canada has been open to non-essential US travelers for over a month. Even more confusing is that the US allows Canadians to fly here, but they cannot drive across the land border. The administration’s approach to this issue facing thousands in our region is incoherent.

“Leaders on both sides of the aisle and both sides of our shared border have pleaded with President to provide any semblance of an answer or timeline. He ignored these calls. Par for the course from this administration.
