This year, the online election procedure has become more convenient and accessible. Read about what functions have appeared in the voting system after taking into account the wishes of voters and consulting with experts in this mos.ru article.

Deferred decision

Gadget or communication problems will not prevent voters from casting their vote. Even if your computer freezes, your smartphone runs out of battery, or the Internet stops working, you can reopen the email ballot and vote. The deferred decision feature will be available within 24 hours of the first newsletter download and three hours after the previous download. This opportunity will also be useful to those who were distracted during the voting and did not have time to make their choice. Only the most recent vote will be counted.

You need to check all the ballots with which the user wants to vote.

The feature will be unavailable if a voter votes after 16:59 on September 19.

Simplified application submission

It was faster to register to participate in online voting this year. Muscovites did not have to waste time filling out the application. If the profile contains all the data and they match the information from the state voter base, then the application was filled in automatically. It only remained to enter the code from the SMS.

Opportunities for the blind and visually impaired

Online voting has become available for people with visual impairments. Now the electronic election system is compatible with screen readers (screen readers) used by people with various visual impairments, including the blind. They work on the principle of voice assistants, reading text from the screen and voicing where the buttons or fields that need to be filled are located on the screen. During online elections, the program will read out the voting procedure and tell you about the operation of the deferred decision function. After uploading the ballot, he will read out the list of candidates and tell you if you can put a few marks.

In addition, the layout of the voting system pages was updated and adapted for different devices (from computers to smartphones), and the contrast of text and buttons was increased.

Updated service for monitoring online voting

So that Muscovites can follow the progress of electronic voting, a special service is used – the Observer. It allows you to watch all the actions that take place on the blockchain. On the eve of the upcoming elections, the developers have updated the interface of the Observer and added new functions to make it more convenient and intuitive.

The updated service can track 12 types of actions. Among them – checking the user’s right to vote online, issuing a ballot, getting a vote, and much more.

To make it easier to understand the operation of the service, tooltips and explanations have been added, for which this or that indicator is responsible. It also became possible to switch between dark and light theme of the design.

Another novelty will make it more comfortable for IT professionals to work with the Observer. Instead of a CSV file, you can now download a full database snapshot. This will increase the speed of information processing, make it easier to work with it, and also get rid of system errors.
