On the proposal of ORCCAN and in coordination with the neighboring cantons, the Council of State lifts with effect from Tuesday July 27, 2021 the ban on sailing on Lake Neuchâtel. However, since navigation on Lake Biel is prohibited, the ban on navigation on the Thielle Canal remains in force until the ban is lifted by the Bernese authorities.
On the other hand, the greatest vigilance is required as many fixed installations in ports and on the shores are still liable to be covered with water or remain inaccessible. The presence of floating materials is not excluded either. For these reasons, the Neuchâtel authorities are making the following recommendations to mariners:
– Do not navigate on the La Thielle canal
– Navigate at low speed and avoid generating waves
– Do not sail at night
– Respect the navigation distance to the shore (300 m.)
– Follow the restrictions formulated by the municipalities as well as the prohibitions concerning the cantonal waters of Friborg and Vaud
Before swimming, the population is invited to find out about the quality of the bathing water (www.ne.ch/plages) and to respect any local prohibitions.
The OCRg du Littoral and the Cantonal Conduct Staff (EMCC) ORCCAN continue to monitor developments
