St. Joseph, Mo. – Two ramp closures which were originally planned for today, June 29, as part of the resurfacing project on Interstate 229, have been rescheduled for tomorrow, June 29, and additional ramp closures have been announced.
Schedule for postponed and new ramp closures:
June 30 (previously scheduled for June 29), 6 a.m. to 7 p.m.:
- From Lake Boulevard to southbound I-229
- From southbound I-229 to Route 371 (22nd Street, Exit 3)
July 1 (new), 6 a.m. to 7 p.m.:
- Southbound on- and off-ramps at Route K (Exit 11)
July 6 (new), 6 a.m. to 7 p.m.:
- Southbound on-and off-ramps at Highland Avenue (Exit 7)
- From St. Joseph Avenue to southbound I-229
Motorists will need to use an alternate route during the ramp closures.
The Missouri Highways and Transportation Commission awarded the $5,599,536.83 resurfacing project to Herzog Contracting Corp., of St. Joseph. The project extends from the U.S. Route 71 intersection in Andrew County to Route 371 (22nd Street) in Buchanan County and is expected to continue through September.
One lane in each direction of I-229 will remain open during the work and a 10-foot width restriction will be in place for the duration of the project. Crews will work during daylight hours, Monday through Saturday.
