The program of the last academic year included all-around competitions, football, basketball, chess and hockey competitions, as well as creative contests dedicated to sports.
More than 120 thousand schoolchildren and college students took part in online sports projects of the Moscow Center “Patriot.Sport”in the 2020/2021 academic year. The program included competitions in various sports, contests and video challenges, festivals dedicated to football, basketball, checkers and chess, as well as creative contests on sports topics.
“The pandemic has made its own adjustments in the life of schoolchildren, and in order not to leave the children without sports and the necessary physical activity, the Moscow center“ Patriot.Sport ”has prepared a variety of programs. Students were offered new and interesting formats: online challenges, sports video contests, competitions and live training. All this has become an important part of the physical culture and sports education of the younger generation. We try to make sports events on the Web diverse, vivid and memorable. Children and adolescents can easily find a suitable activity, taking into account their physical capabilities, age and hobbies, ”said Marat Kuchushev, director of the Moscow center“ Patriot.Sport ”.
From football to chess
The largest was the series of events “Presidential Competitions”, which was attended by schoolchildren of grades 1-11. They had to take online tests with questions about sports and complete age-appropriate assignments. The guys took part in the all-around and the competition of musical and artistic performances. More than 70 thousand schoolchildren took part in the city stage of the competition.
More than seven thousand people took part in the “Presidential Sports Games” project at the regional stage. The competition program included basketball, volleyball and athletics. Teams filmed videos of assignments.
The Football at School Festival this academic year was also held remotely and in two stages. More than 10 thousand students from 23 educational organizations took part in the Moscow regional tours. The guys filmed home workouts, worked on the sports menu, took part in quizzes, fan contests and other activities, and then published reports on the events on the project website and on their pages on social networks. More than two thousand schoolchildren took part in another football project – the “Magnificent Seven” team competition. They recorded videos of juggling a soccer ball with their feet.
Over three thousand children joined the sports and intellectual online competition “School Sports Star”. The competition program included multi-format competitions in basketball, handball, volleyball, football and rugby.
Mind sports competitions are traditionally popular among schoolchildren and college students. Among them are chess tournaments “White Rook” and “Pawn and Queen”, tournaments “Miracle Checkers” and “Young Checkers”, as well as competitions among college students, online tournaments and competitions for students with disabilities, which are held in in the framework of the Invasport Olympics and the Nadezhda Olympics. In the 2020/2021 academic year, more than 25 thousand students from schools and colleges took part in the city’s chess and checkers competitions. All events took place online.
Sport as creativity
More than five thousand people took part in the virtual marathon “Around the Globe”. Students and their parents covered distances in different ways: by running or walking, on the street or at home on a treadmill. They recorded the distances covered with the help of mobile applications and uploaded them to the website of the Patriot.Sport Moscow Center. The marathon ended when the sum of the distances covered by all participants reached the length of the equator – 40,075 kilometers.
At the beginning of the year, the Patriot.Sport Moscow Center invited schoolchildren to take part in the Snow Battle Challenge. The guys filmed videos on which they caught “snowballs” made from improvised materials to the music, performed a dance or a sports number and passed the baton to other participants. 4.5 thousand students have joined the challenge. Schoolchildren also actively participated in other winter projects, such as Ice and Family Skating. Competition “Winter strike”, during which the participants played bowling with tennis balls, gathered 2.3 thousand people.
A number of special projects have been developed for preschoolers as well. More than 3.5 thousand children took part in the online sports festivals “Merry Starts”, “The Whole Family to the Start” and “We Play Towns”. More than 2.5 thousand preschoolers have passed competitive tests of the basketball festival “Ball School”.
Creative sports projects aroused great interest. They were joined by more than 1.5 thousand schoolchildren and students. For example, participants in the Sports Mascot competition drew characters they represented as the official mascots of Moscow school sports. The jury selected the two best works from more than 400 drawings, performed individually and in teams. Participants of the Sportcomics competition created their own superheroes, plots and drew comics by hand and with the help of graphic editors. The works of the winners were placed on T-shirts with the logo of the Moscow center “Patriot.Sport”.
Drawing contests organized jointly with the professional football club CSKA became popular. For the competition “CSKA is my team” schoolchildren depicted a stadium, sports paraphernalia and famous football players. And the participants of the “Red-Blue Artist” competition drew banners with football attributes. The works of the winners will decorate the family sector of the CSKA stadium.
In the next academic year, young Muscovites will have new competitions, contests and challenges, as well as the continuation of their favorite online events. Information about them will appear on the website of the Moscow Center “Patriot.Sport”and its pages on social networks.
