Muscovites talked about what brought them to volunteering, as well as their daily responsibilities and motivation.
On June 1, the names of the 18 winners of the photo contest became known “The city of those who are not indifferent. Vocation”… Among them are the leaders of non-profit organizations (NPOs), volunteers of charitable foundations and everyone who daily implements social projects and unites people to participate in the good deeds of the city. They help large families and people with disabilities, run races in support of homeless animals, develop volunteering and youth movements.
Inga Smetanina is among the finalists. Her volunteer career began at the municipal animal shelter in Shcherbinka. She recalls that one day in the summer of 2010, she simply called the shelter and asked how she could help. And two days later I came to get acquainted with the animals. Later, when the number of volunteers increased, a foundation was established on the basis of the volunteer association of the shelter. “Dogs who love”.
In the fund, Inga is engaged in PR, works with the media, tells the public about the animals under guardianship, fights myths and fears associated with the addition of dogs and cats from shelters. On your own podcast “I have paws” Together with invited experts, she talks about topics that are important to all pet owners. For example, how not to lose a pet, what are the features of keeping different animals, why zoopsychology is needed and how to correct the behavior of dogs.
Another winner is the fundraising director of the fund “Life is like a miracle” Pavel Rakovsky. Pavel is a charity runner. This is a person who runs, drawing attention to the activities of the NGO and raising funds for its wards.
Seven years ago, when Pavel was just starting to develop the idea of charity races, there was no such experience in Russia. Therefore, foreign experience was taken as a basis. Today, thanks to the energy and creative approach to the races, a circle of like-minded people has formed around Pavel, ready to run in support of the fund in any season and weather.
Elena Shidlovskaya – perinatal psychologist and author of a project in support of pregnant women, families and single parents “Sincere gift”… The recipients of the project receive a box with gifts made by the hands of volunteers: toys, items of clothing, blankets. Inside there are postcards with personal congratulations and certificates for free consultations of neonatologists, obstetricians-gynecologists, breastfeeding specialists, nutritionists, psychologists and lawyers.
As Elena notes, the main task of the project is to take care of the family during a difficult period. Among the wards are single young mothers, families with many children, as well as single fathers. Each family has its own history and they try to find their own approach to each person and provide exactly the help that he needs.
