Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Chernyshenko held a working meeting with President of the International Motorcycle Federation Jorge Viegas.
The meeting took place before the start of the first stage of the World Motocross Championship (June 11-13) in the Krasnodar Territory.
It was attended by Minister of Sports Oleg Matytsin, Minister of Construction, Housing and Utilities, Member of the Board of Trustees of the Russian Motorcycle Sports Federation Irek Fayzullin, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Russian Motorcycle Sports Federation Yevgeny Dietrich, President of the Russian Motorcycle Sports Federation Alexander Dzheus, General Director of Infront Moto racing group ”David Luongo.
Dmitry Chernyshenko stressed: “Russia is hosting motocross competitions for the fifth time. This year athletes from 20 countries of the world will come to us – Switzerland, Belgium, Great Britain, Germany, Australia, Italy, Spain and others. The championship will be held in the Krasnodar Territory, in a very picturesque place. I am sure that spectators and participants will enjoy the event. For our part, we have organized the preparation of the track, medical support and all the accompanying infrastructure for the competition. “
Jorge Viegas, President of the International Federation of Motorcycle Sports, thanked the Government for the hospitality, support for the competition and willingness to cooperate in the development of motorcycling. Jorge Viegas also spoke about the success of cooperation with the Government in promoting this sport in Russia.
Evgeny Dietrich noted that the Motorcycle Sports Federation of Russia defines its main task as the active involvement of young people in motorcycling.
The first stage of the World Motocross Championship starts in the Krasnodar Territory. Participation of 72 athletes in two categories (MX2 and MXGP) from the following countries: France, Switzerland, Lithuania, Netherlands, Denmark, Belgium, Great Britain, Germany, Latvia, Australia, Spain, Finland, Estonia, Italy, Sweden, Venezuela, Slovenia, Czech Republic, Austria and Russia.
In Russia, the World Motocross Championship was held in 2002 in the Moscow region, in 2012 in the Ivanovo region, in 2017, 2018, 2019 in the Krasnodar Territory (VDC “Orlyonok”).
